Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This page lists every cookie and similar technology BlueBoxOffice sets, what each one does, and how long it lasts. It accompanies our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle information generally.
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Related technologies, including local storage and session storage, do much the same thing in a different place. We list both, because what matters is what is stored and why, not which mechanism holds it.
1We Do Not Use Advertising Cookies
Nothing on our websites sets an advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking cookie. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
Our analytics are configured accordingly: our Google Analytics tag requests no advertising features and no ad personalization, and we do not use analytics data for advertising.
If that ever changes, this page and the Privacy Policy will say so before it takes effect, and the controls described in section 5 will apply to it.
2Cookies on blueboxoffice.com
This is our campaign and launch site. It has no accounts and no checkout, so it stores very little.
Strictly necessary
- Your advertising choice — records that you have opted out of advertising uses of your information, so we can honor that choice on your next visit. Set only if you make that choice on our Your Privacy Choices page.
- Bot protection — Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a sign-up form is being submitted by a person. It runs invisibly for most visitors and may store a value in your browser when it needs to present a challenge.
Analytics
- Google Analytics — tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, and which campaigns brought them, so we know where to spend. Advertising features are switched off.
Campaign attribution
- Where your visit came from — the campaign tags in the link you arrived through, held for this visit only so that if you sign up on a different page we still know which campaign to credit. Cleared when you close the tab, and never used to build a profile of you.
3Cookies on app.blueboxoffice.com
This is the ticketing platform, where you sign in, buy tickets, and run events. More of it is necessary, because an account and a checkout cannot work without it.
Strictly necessary
- Staying signed in — keeps you signed in between visits so you are not asked for your password every time.
- Sign-in handover — carries your session across the moment you sign in. We issue you a brand-new session each time you sign in, which protects you against someone fixing a session on your browser beforehand; this very short-lived cookie is what makes the handover work.
- Form protection — proves a form was submitted from our own page, which stops another site from acting on your behalf while you are signed in.
- Support conversations — identifies your own support conversation so only you can reopen it. It holds no account information.
- Payment fraud prevention — Stripe sets these on our payment page to detect fraudulent card use. We cannot read them.
Preferences
- Your language — remembers whether you are reading in English or Spanish.
- Your email address on the sign-in page — set only if you tick the box asking us to remember it.
- Light or dark theme, recent search locations, and other small preferences — kept in your browser's own storage so the site looks and behaves the way you left it. These never leave your device.
- An open support chat — lets a conversation follow you from page to page within one visit, so you can go and fetch something without losing the thread.
Analytics
- Google Analytics — the same measurement as on our campaign site, with advertising features switched off.
Event check-in
- The ticket scanner's offline store — when a volunteer scans tickets at the door, the ticket list and any scans taken while the signal is down are held on that device until they can be sent to us. This applies to event staff using the scanner, not to ticket buyers.
4Our Other Sites
Our demonstration site uses the same strictly necessary sign-in cookies as the platform, plus one that records that you have been given access to it. It is a session cookie and ends when you close your browser.
Our staff administration site uses its own sign-in and form-protection cookies. It is not accessible to the public.
5Your Choices
Opting out of advertising uses: see Your Privacy Choices. Because we set no advertising cookies today, there is nothing there to switch off yet — but the choice is recorded now and will be honored if that changes.
Global Privacy Control: if your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising uses of your information, on every page, without you having to ask us. You do not need to do anything else. We do not respond to the older browser “Do Not Track” setting, which was never given an agreed meaning.
Analytics: you can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser using Google's own opt-out add-on.
Your browser: every major browser can block or delete cookies, for all sites or one site at a time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in or completing a purchase. Blocking preference, analytics, or attribution storage costs you nothing but a little convenience.
Marketing email: cookies have nothing to do with our emails. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us.
6Changes and Contact
We will update this page whenever what we store changes, and revise the date above. Material changes are described in the Privacy Policy as well.
